How it works

SensingU pairs small Bluetooth beacons placed around a building with an Android app. The app listens for nearby beacons and works out where you are, then responds with sound, context and directions instead of asking you to keep staring at a map.

1. Hear the space

As you walk from one space to another, the ambient sound around you evolves, giving you a sense of place and letting you feel when you have moved somewhere new.

2. Shake to explore

Not sure where you are? Shake your phone. SensingU uses the signal strength of nearby beacons to work out where you are and tell you more about your surroundings.

3. Room-to-room guidance

Choose where you want to go and follow the guidance from room to room.

4. Location dictionary

Some visitors do not know the name of the place they are looking for. The interactive location dictionary lets people find destinations by recognising pictures.

5. Multilingual

Visitors come from many backgrounds. SensingU offers guidance in multiple languages, so a first visit is smoother for everyone.

Our aim is to make moving through buildings feel more natural, confident and enjoyable, by letting people sense their environment instead of just reading it.
